I can't tell you how I do it, but I can show you NOT to do it...

1.  LED's with resistors taped down to the circuit card.
2.  LED with resistor (Note: soldering iron used to burn away material from switch to access circuit card.)

Note the use of a soldering iron and some sort of cutting device to access
the back of the circuit card.
